Luke Donald takes lead at St. Andrews

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Luke Donald took a two-shot lead in the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland Saturday with a three-round score of 17-under-par 199.

Donald shot a 68 to move ahead of Graeme McDowell, the first-round leader, and David Howell, who led at the halfway mark. McDowell, Howell and Ian Poulter were tied for second at 201.

McDonald shot 67, Howell 71 and Poulter had five birdies on the back nine for a 65.

Donald, 26, is shooting for his third European Tour victory of the year.

World No. 2 Ernie Els was in a group at 12-under 204, tied for sixth. Top-ranked Vijay Singh was in a group at 207.
