CHICAGO, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Brian Schneider drove in a run and then scored in the 12th inning Tuesday to lift Montreal over the Chicgo Cubs 7-6.
With the score tied 5-5, Juan Rivera singled, reached second on a sacrifice and scored on Schneider's single. Schneider later came home on a fly ball.

Corey Patterson then hit one of his two homers for the Cubs in the bottom of the inning but they came up short and now lead the San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros by just one-half game in the National League wild card race.
Endy Chavez had four hits for the Expos and Patterson also had four.
Chad Cordero (5-3) got the win in relief.
