MASON, Ohio, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi both won in straight sets Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters.
Five players who have been ranked No. 1 made it to the quarterfinals with Carlos Moya, Lleyton Hewitt and Marat Safin joining Roddick and Agassi.
Roddick advanced with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Paradorn Srichaphan 6-2, 6-3. Agassi defeated Juan Ignacio Chela 6-3, 6-3.
Tommy Haas will meet Roddick in the quarterfinals after ousting Robin Soderling 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
Agassi and Moya will tangle in the next round. Moya outlasted Wayne Arthurs 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Hewitt won over Tim Henman 6-1, 6-4 and will next face Safin, who beat Ivo Karlovic, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (3-7), 6-4.
Greg Rusedski was eliminated by Tommy Robredo 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2); and Fabrice Santoro brushed aside Jonas Bjorkman, 6-0, 6-3.
