ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 27 (UPI) -- Jeff Conine had three hits and three RBI on his 38th birthday and Carl Pavano allowed one run in seven innings Sunday as Florida beat Tampa Bay, 11-4.

The loss snapped the Tampa Bay Devils' 13-game interleague winning streak.

It figured that Pavano (9-2) would help the Marlins salvage the finale of the three-game Citrus series. The righthander won each of his previous four starts following a Marlins loss, allowing five runs in 32 1/3 innings.

Pavano has now made 10 starts following Florida losses and has gone 8-2, allowing 22 earned runs in 77 innings.

Pavano started out striking out five consecutive batters after retiring Carl Crawford on a groundout. He finished with eight strikeouts and yielded five hits.

The Marlins scored four runs in the third inning against Chad Gaudin (1-2). Mike Lowell doubled home the first run and Conine highlighted the inning with a three-run double.
