Orlando approaches draft with indecision

NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- With less than 24 hours left before the start of the NBA Draft, there was still indecision on the part of Orlando General Manager John Weisbrod.

Orlando has the first pick in the draft and Weisbrod admitted Wednesday he had not decided whether he will select college standout Emeka Okafor or high school prodigy Dwight Howard.

"We have not made up our mind," said Weisbrod, who replaced the fired John Gabriel in March.

One of the factors leading to Weisbrod's indecision concerns superstar Tracy McGrady. He will become a free agent after the 2004-05 season and has been making noise about not re-signing with the struggling franchise.

A two-time defending scoring champion, McGrady reportedly is headed to the Houston Rockets in a huge deal that would net the Magic All-Star guard Steve Francis, scoring guard Cuttino Mobley and shot-blocking center Kelvin Cato. But the deal is still on hold.

Last week, the Magic had both Okafor and Howard in for workouts and interviews.

Chicago, Atlanta, Portland, New Jersey, Utah and Boston all have multiple picks in the first round.
