Ben Curtis keeps share of the lead

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 4 (UPI) -- Ben Curtis, Justin Rose and new Canadian citizen Stephen Ames shared the lead Friday after two rounds of The Memorial.

Curtis, who has made little impact since winning last year's British Open, shot a 69 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club for a two-day total of 7-under 137.

Rose, who had the 36-hole lead at the Masters this year, shot a 67 and Ames had a 68.

They were one shot in front of Fred Couples (69), K.J. Choi (67) and Ernie Els (70).

Tiger Woods shot a 68 and was three shots behind. His round was marred by a double-bogey at the par-3 12th.

Curtis, who grew up only 25 miles away and who is staying with his parents this week, attended this event as a young boy.

"I feel very comfortable on this course," he said. "You've got wide fairways so I feel I can be aggressive off the tee. I got a few lucky breaks, but for the most part I played really well."
