MLB: Oakland 5, Kansas City 4 (11 innings)

OAKLAND, Calif., May 22 (UPI) -- Bobby Crosby drove in the winning run with an 11th inning single Saturday as the Oakland Athletics rallied for a 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.

After Zack Greinke made a successful major league debut for Kansas City, Jeremy Affeldt blew a save in the ninth.

Greinke, a 20-year-old righthander, allowed two runs and five hits in five innings, walked one and struck out one.

The youngest player in the major leagues stood to be the winner and things looked good when relievers Nate Field and Jason Grimsley tossed a scoreless inning apiece.

Affeldt worked around a walk in the eighth and had two outs in the ninth when Eric Chavez hit a game-tying two-run homer.

Scott Sullivan (3-1) started the 11th for Kansas City and allowed a single to Jermaine Dye around a pair of outs. Scott Hatteberg singled to put runners at the corners and Erubiel Durazo was walked intentionally.
