NEW YORK, Nev., May 22 (UPI) -- Ty Wigginton hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth Saturday night as the New York Mets beat Colorado, 5-4.
It was the third time this week the Mets won in their last at-bat. The Mets rallied for wins over Arizona on Sunday and St. Louis on Tuesday.
Jason Phillips walked with one out in the eighth and was lifted for pinch runner Joe McEwing. After Mike Cameron struck out, Wigginton hit a 2-0 pitch from Vladimir Nunez (3-2) his fourth homer of the season.
Kaz Matsui also homered for the Mets, who squandered a three-run lead.
The loss spoiled a three-hit night for Burnitz, who gave the Rockies a 4-3 lead with a two-run triple in the fifth.
