Pitching for the first time in nine days, the veteran righthander walked two and struck out five before Tampa Bay Manager Lou Piniella turned things over to the bullpen.

Trever Miller got the first out of the eighth and Chad Gaudin worked around a walk and got the final two outs of the inning. Closer Danys Baez worked around a leadoff walk to Carlos Lee in the ninth and notched his first save with the Devil Rays.

Tampa Bay scored all its runs on homeers. Carl Crawford led off the game with a blast to left field and Julio Lugo hit a two-run homer with one out in the second inning.
