Celtics activate Raef LaFrentz

BOSTON, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- The Boston Celtics have activated forward-center Raef LaFrentz, who had been on the injured list for two weeks with right knee tendinitis.

LaFrentz, acquired in October in the five-player trade that sent Antoine Walker to Dallas, has averaged 8.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 22.3 minutes off the bench for Boston. He experienced soreness in the knee after scoring eight points in an 89-82 loss to Chicago on Nov. 12.

The 6-11 LaFrentz, who went on the injured list Nov. 14, is expected to be in uniform for Friday's home game against Milwaukee. He averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots in 69 games last season with Dallas after signing a five-year contract worth $69 million, and had career averages of 12.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.22 blocks in his first five NBA seasons.

To make room for LaFrentz, the Celtics placed rookie forward Kendrick Perkins on the injured list.
