Florida 7, San Francisco 4

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Derrek Lee and Miguel Cabrera homered Sunday as the Florida Marlins snapped a five-game skid with a 7-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Sidelined since Aug. 1 with a strained shoulder, Kirk Rueter (7-4) made a less than triumphant return, allowing five runs and six hits in five innings.

Lee, who had an RBI single in the fourth, hit a two-run homer in the seventh to give Florida a 7-1 cushion. It was Lee's 122nd blast as a Marlin, tying Gary Sheffield for the franchise lead.

Cabrera had three hits, including his ninth homer, to help make a winner of Carl Pavano (10-11). The righthander, who won four of his last five decisions, yielded two runs and seven hits in seven innings.

Edgardo Alfonzo drove in two runs for the Giants, who had their six-game winning streak against the Marlins end.
