Seattle 8, N.Y. Yankees 6

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Former Mariner Jeff Nelson gave up two-runs singles to Brett Boone and Randy Winn Sunday afternoon as Seattle eased past the New York Yankees, 8-6.

Seattle scored five runs in three innings off the Yankees' beleaguered bullpen to take two of three in the series between division leaders.

Nelson, who criticized the Mariners for not making any moves at the trade deadline, last week was dealt back to the Yankees, a team he helped to four World Series titles from 1996-2000.

A two-run homer by David Dellucci in the fourth inning, his first in a Yankees' uniform, gave New York a 4-1 lead, and the Yankees responded to the Seattle rally in the bottom half of the seventh on a two-run double by Jorge Posada.

Rafael Soriano (2-0) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to record the win. Shigetoshi Hasegawa got the final three outs for his 10th save in as many chances and extended his scoreless innings streak to 25, setting a record for Mariners relievers.
