Texas 7, Boston 3 (11 inn.)

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 31 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez belted a grand slam with two outs in the 11th inning Thursday night to lift Texas to a 7-3 victory over Boston.

Rodriguez signed a record 10-year, $252 million contract two seasons ago. But the superstar said Wednesday that he might want to be traded due to the Rangers' constant losing. The 28-year-old backpedaled a bit Thursday, saying he wanted to continue with Texas.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the 11th, Rodriguez swung and missed the first pitch from Red Sox reliever Todd Jones (2-1) before depositing the next one over the fence in right center for his 10th career grand slam.

Boston's Pedro Martinez came in having won his last three starts against Texas. He had a 23-inning scoreless streak against the Rangers snapped when Shane Spencer doubled home a run with two outs in the fourth.
