NY Yankees 10, Cleveland 4

NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- Jason Giambi hit two homers and Armando Benitez worked a pair of scoreless innings Friday night as New York cruised to a 10-4 rout of Cleveland.

While Giambi recorded his fourth multi-homer game of the season, New York scored five times in the sixth inning to take an 8-4 lead. The inning featured a 61-minute rain delay and was capped by a two-run double by Alfonso Soriano.

Benitez entered to begin the seventh after starter Roger Clemens (9-6) allowed seven hits through the first six innings. The former New York Mets closer was acquired on Wednesday.

The righthander, tied for the major league lead with seven blown saves, retired his first two hitters before a single by Casey Blake. But Benitez got Milton Bradley with a high fastball to end the inning and set down the Indians in order in the eighth.
