Philadelphia 7, Tampa Bay 5

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y., June 16 (UPI) -- Cole Hamels struck out nine in five innings and Marlon Byrd hit a two-run homer as Philadelphia took a 7-5 victory over Tampa Bay in Monday's Hall of Fame Game.

Hamels, who pitches for Lakewood of the South Atlantic League, allowed two earned runs and three hits. Frank Brooks picked up the win in relief after recording four strikeouts in two innings.

Pat Burrell, Tomas Perez and Nick Punto each hit solo homers for the Phillies. Carl Crawford had two hits and scored two runs for the Devil Rays.

The game was preceded by a home run hitting contest, which was won by Ben Grieve of Tampa Bay.
