Montreal 6, Colorado 4 (10 innings)

DENVER, May 17 (UPI) -- The Montreal Expos moved 11 games over .500 for the first time in nearly six years Saturday with a 6-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies as Henry Mateo delivered a tie-breaking two-run single in the 10th inning.

Unfazed by the second-inning ejection of their starting pitcher, the Expos (27-16) won for the ninth time in 12 games and moved 11 games over .500 for the first time since July 1, 1997.

After forging a 4-4 tie in the eighth, Montreal missed a chance to go ahead in the ninth when Vladimir Guerrero hit into an inning-ending double play.

But in the 10th, Brad Wilkerson walked, Wil Cordero singled and Jose Macias reached on a bunt, loading the bases for Mateo. After Wilkerson was caught stealing home and the trail runners moved up, Mateo hit a pitch from reliever Todd Jones (1-2) up the middle through a drawn-in infield.

Montreal used six relievers after starter Zach Day was ejected for using a foreign substance on his hand. Luis Ayala (4-1) worked two scoreless innings for the win and Rocky Biddle struck out two in the 10th for his 12th save in 13 opportunities.
