SEATTLE, April 13 (UPI) -- A solo home run by Bret Boone in the 13th inning Sunday gave the Seattle Mariners a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers.

Boone and John Mabry hit solo shots in the seventh to put Seattle in front, 3-2, but Texas catcher Todd Greene registered his first homer of the season in the top of the eighth to tie the contest.

In the 13th, Boone drove a 2-0 pitch from Texas reliever R.A. Dickey (0-1) over the fence in right field for his third home run of the season.

With relievers Giovanni Carrara and Arthur Rhodes not with the team, Seattle Manager Bob Melvin turned to closer Kazuhiro Sasaki (1-0) in a tie game. The Japanese righthander responded with a hitless inning.

Alex Rodriguez homered for the Rangers, who have yet to win a series this season.
