San Antonio 98, Houston 85

SAN ANTONIO, March 28 (UPI) -- Stephen Jackson scored 27 points and Tim Duncan added 25 Thursday night as the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a 98-85 victory over the slumping Houston Rockets.

Jackson continued to play well off Duncan, attacking the basket in addition to launching from three-point range. He made five of eight shots from beyond the arc, foiling Houston's double-teams.

Duncan made 12 of 16 shots as he continued to make a case for his second straight NBA MVP award. His 52nd double-double featured 14 rebounds and eight assists.

Duncan has not lost at home against the Rockets since entering the NBA. San Antonio has won 12 straight home meetings with Houston since April 20, 1997 -- two months before it drafted Duncan.

Cuttino Mobley scored 21 points for the Rockets, who are 2-5 since assistant Larry Smith took over for cancer-stricken coach Rudy Tomjanovich. The Rockets fell a half game behind Phoenix in the race for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
