St. Louis 13, Florida 10

JUPITER, Fla., March 7 (UPI) -- Filling in for the injured Jim Edmonds, So Taguchi rapped a go-ahead, two-run double in the seventh inning Friday to help the St. Louis Cardinals down the Florida Marlins, 13-10.

St. Louis trailed, 8-2, after Florida tagged Cardinals starter Woody Williams for six runs and Dan Serafini for two in the top of the second inning. In the bottom of the frame, Edmonds strained a left calf muscle, which is expected to sideline him two weeks.

But the Cardinals managed five runs in the second, including a three-run home run by Albert Pujols off Marlins starter Mark Redman, then tied the game one inning later on a solo shot by Pujols against Vladimir Nunez.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Taguchi, who replaced Edmonds in center field, doubled off losing pitcher Justin Wayne. St. Louis scored five runs in the inning.

Cal Eldred threw four hitless innings for St. Louis to pick up the win. Rick Ankiel, trying to overcome control issues pitched a perfect third inning, striking out one.
