SURPRISE, Ariz., March 4 (UPI) -- Mario Valenzuela's RBI double in the top of the 11th inning Tuesday lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 9-8 Cactus League victory over the Texas Rangers.
Valenzuela's hit off Brian Shouse (0-1) was his second double of the game. His first forged an 8-8 tie in the ninth. The two extra-base hits helped the White Sox erase a six-run deficit.
Dan Wright started for Chicago and surrendered six runs and five hits in two innings. He allowed two-run doubles to Juan Gonzalez and Michael Young in a six-run second.
The White Sox responded with six runs in the fifth, highlighted by Joe Borchard's grand slam off R.A. Dickey.
Two innings later, a run-scoring single by rookie Mark Teixeira gave the Rangers an 8-7 lead.
