San Jose 3; Vancouver 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Vancouver had its team-record 14-game unbeaten streak snapped Thursday night, and lost Todd Bertuzzi and Mattias Ohlund to injuries in a 3-2 loss to San Jose.

Vancouver was 10

4 during the NHL's longest unbeaten streak this season, but could not overcome a three-goal deficit or the loss of two key players and was beaten for the first time since Jan. 24.

Vincent Damphousse and Owen Nolan each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who have won three in a row following a 1-7-0 stretch, and are six points behind Edmonton for the final Western Conference playoff berth.

Bertuzzi, a first-time All-Star and the league's premier power forward, was clipped by the stick of Evgeni Nabokov right after the San Jose goaltender cleared the puck from behind his net in the second period. Bertuzzi suffered an apparent eye injury and did not return.

With 3:40 left in the second, Ohlund collided with Sharks winger Matt Bradley and appeared to catch his left knee awkwardly while crumpling to the ice. He was helped to the locker room and also did not return.
