BOSTON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Brian Rolston scored the go-ahead goal with 26 seconds remaining Saturday night as the Boston Bruins extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 4-3 victory over the winless Atlanta Thrashers.
Rolston scored twice in the final period and could have had a hat trick. Shortly after scoring his first goal 7:42 into the third, he missed on a breakaway when his shot hit the back of the net.
But Rolston, who scored the tying goal in Thursday night's 2-2 deadlock with the Ottawa Senators, saved his best for last. He took a pass from Jozef Stumpel off the boards and beat Thrashers goaltender Milan Hnilicka with a wrist shot from the middle of the slot.
Rolston's tally came 4:18 after Thrashers defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist beat Bruins goalie Steve Shields on a backhander to forge a 3-3 tie.
Marty McInnis and captain Joe Thornton also scored for Boston, which is 5
2 since a season-opening loss at Minnesota.
Ilya Kovalchuk and Tony Hrkac had goals for Atlanta, which is winless in its last 17 games (0-12-3-2) dating to March 23.
