NY Rangers 4, Boston 3

BOSTON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Rookie Jamie Lundmark scored with 3:46 remaining Saturday night as the New York Rangers closed out the preseason with a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Considered one of New York's top prospects, Lundmark shined in the preseason with six goals. His power-play tally came just 69 seconds after defenseman Brian Leetch beat goaltender John Grahame on a breakaway to tie it.

The Rangers, who ranked last in the NHL in penalty-killing last season, gave up three power-play goals, including two by Brian Rolston in the first period.

Bobby Holik also scored for the Rangers but was taken to a local hospital with an undisclosed injury after getting hit by the puck in the second period.

Second-year backup Dan Blackburn played 54 minutes and made 19 saves for the Rangers before Mike Richter came on.

Grahame stopped 20 shots for the Bruins, who were three for 10 on the power play. New York converted two of 13 chances with the man advantage.
