DENVER, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Terrell Owens caught seven passes for 123 yards Monday night and set up the first of four field goals by Jose Cortez as the San Francisco 49ers posted a 12-7 exhibition win over the Denver Broncos.

Veteran running back Terrell Davis made a final appearance at Invesco Field at Mile High, coming out in uniform with his teammates to a rousing ovation during pregame warmups. Rookie Clinton Portis made a bid to serve as Davis' successor, carrying 11 times for 43 yards and Denver's lone touchdown. The rest of the Broncos' offense sputtered, managing just 242 total yards.

Quarterback Brian Griese completed 8-of-13 passes for 73 yards with an interception and backup Steve Beuerlein was 5-of-10 for 51 yards.

A bid at a last-minute comeback fizzled when Todd Husak was intercepted by cornerback Jimmy Williams.

Jeff Garcia played the first half for San Francisco and went 11-of-18 for 49 yards. His 48-yard pass to Owens set up the game's first score, a 27-yard field goal by Cortez. The former
