Three-way tie at GMO

MILWAUKEE, July 12 (UPI) -- Kirk Triplett, Jeff Sluman and Tommy Armour III shared the lead Friday after the second round of the Greater Milwaukee Open.

Triplett had the best round of the three Friday at the Brown Deer Park Golf Club, shooting a 7-under-par 64 to jump from 10th to first at 12-under 130. Sluman carded a 66 and Armour signed for a 67.

Steve Lowery recorded a 65 and was alone in fourth at 11-under 131. Dan Forsman and Robert Damron had the low round of the day with 63s that left them in a tie for fifth with Bo Van Pelt and Chad Campbell at 132.

Scott Hoch, Carlos Franco of Paraguay, Greg Chalmers and David Peoples share ninth at 133.

A total of 25 players are within five strokes of the leaders, including Kenny Perry at 134 and Shigeki Maruyama of Japan at 135.

Most of the tour's leading players are skipping this event as they prepare for next week's British Open.
