Arizona 6, Milwaukee 3

MILWAUKEE, April 6 (UPI) -- Randy Johnson struck out 12 over seven innings and Steve Finley homered, scored twice and drove in two runs Saturday night as the Arizona Diamondbacks used the Cy Young Award winner to get back on track with a 6-3 triumph over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Johnson (2-0) was dominant in the season opener and Curt Schilling was nearly as good on Tuesday. But after Arizona's "Big Two," the team has rotation concerns and lost its last two games.

In lieu of a fifth starter, Arizona kept Johnson on turn and got back in the win column. The 38-year-old lefthander allowed a run and five hits, walked three and left after 111 pitches.

Bret Prinz allowed two runs in the eighth, but Mike Myers got the final out of the inning before Byung-Hyun Kim struck out two in a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.

Brewers rookie Nick Neugebauer (0-1) allowed three runs and three hits over five innings, walking two and striking out seven.

Jeffrey Hammonds staked the Brewers to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with his first homer of the season.

After Arizona wasted a scoring opportunity in the third, Finley put the Diamondbacks ahead for good in the fourth. Mark Grace walked with one out and, after Damian Miller struck out, Finley crushed a 3-0 pitch over the center field wall for a 2-1 lead.

Milwaukee wasted a leadoff double in the fourth as Hammonds took third on a passed ball with one out but was caught in a rundown on a grounder to third by Alex Ochoa.

Womack made it 3-1 with a homer in the top of the fifth and the Brewers failed to cash in on another chance in the bottom of the inning. Jose Hernandez beat out an infield hit and Raul Casanova singled. Neugebauer bunted the runners over and Eric Young walked, but Johnson escaped when Ron Belliard bounced sharply into a double play.

The Diamondbacks extended their lead to 6-1 in the seventh as Finley walked and scored on Junior Spivey's long double. Craig Counsell followed with an RBI double before Johnson capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.
