Detroit 92, Philadelphia 88

PHILADELPHIA, April 5 (UPI) -- Jerry Stackhouse scored 34 points Friday night and hooked Dikembe Mutombo's arm to force a turnover in the final seconds that gave the Detroit Pistons a 92-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

A one-time Sixer who was booed throughout the game, Stackhouse stuck it to his former team. He made eight of 19 shots and 15 of 16 free throws, but his biggest play came on defense.

Philadelphia trailed, 90-88, when Aaron McKie had his drive partially deflected by Ben Wallace, who leads the NBA in blocks. The 7-2 Mutombo grabbed the offensive rebound and appeared ready to go up for a dunk.

Stackhouse hooked his arm around Mutombo's and the big man lost the ball out of bounds with 15 seconds left. Mutombo and the rest of the 76ers complained long and loud but to no avail.

Stackhouse made two free throws at the other end and Wallace blocked another drive by McKie -- his sixth of the game -- to seal Detroit's 16th win in its last 19 road games.

Jon Barry scored 17 points and Chucky Atkins added 16 for the Pistons (46-30), who clinched a tie for their first Central Division title since 1990, when they won the second of back-to-back NBA championships.
