Florida 4, NY Mets 1

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., March 9 (UPI) -- Preston Wilson homered and drove in three runs and Josh Beckett allowed a run over three innings Saturday to give the Florida Marlins a 4-1 Grapefruit League triumph over the New York Mets.

A former Met, Wilson homered off reliever Kane Davis in the fourth inning. Mike Lowell and Andy Fox added two hits apiece for Florida.

Beckett allowed three hits and two walks before giving way to Kevin Olsen, who followed with two hitless innings. Armando Almanza allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

New York starter Shawn Estes allowed a run in three innings while Pete Walker tossed two hitless frames.

Timo Perez opened the bottom of the first with a homer for the Mets.
