Toronto 89, Golden State 82

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- In a battle of former North Carolina teammates, Vince Carter once again got the better of Antawn Jamison.

Carter had 19 of his 24 points in the second half Wednesday night as the Toronto Raptors rallied for an 89-82 victory over the Golden State Warriors, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Toronto drafted Jamison fourth overall in 1998 and promptly traded to Golden State for Carter, the No. 5 pick, and cash. Carter has soared into superstardom and the Raptors had won all five games against Jamison and the Warriors since the trade, including a 109-92 victory last week in which the Toronto set an NBA record with 24 blocked shots.

Golden State entered the fourth quarter with a 66-65 lead, but after Jamison hit a jump shot, Carter sank a 3-pointer to tie the game. Jamison responded with another bucket, but Carter promptly hit another 3-pointer to give Toronto the lead for good at 71-70.

The Warriors got within 84-80 with 43 seconds remaining, but Chris Childs hit two free throws two seconds later and Golden State got no closer.

Golden State was stymied by its poor free-throw shooting. The Warriors missed 11 of 33 shots from the line.

The Raptors won despite being manhandled on the boards, 59-38.

In addition to Carter's big game, Antonio Davis had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Raptors.

Jamison scored 19 points for Golden State. Erick Dampier had 22 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, but he was held scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Toronto (5-4) won for the first time this season when scoring less than 100 points. It was also the Raptors' first victory on the back end of consecutive games. Toronto lost at Sacramento on Tuesday but is 2-2 on its six-game road trip.

Golden State (5-4) was denied its first four-game winning streak since February 2000.
