Phoenix 113, Golden State 90

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Tony Delk was dominant in place of the injured Stephon Marbury Thursday night, falling two rebounds shy of a triple-double as the Phoenix Suns routed the Golden State Warriors, 113-90.

With Marbury on the sidelines due to a strained left hamstring, Delk filled the All-Star's shoes with 33 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. He made 13 of 16 shots from the floor, including four of five from three-point range.

A former Warrior, Delk scored 19 points in the first half and closed the second quarter with a 44-foot buzzer-beater that capped an 11-0 run, giving Phoenix (5-1) a 57-50 halftime lead.

The Suns put away the game with a 17-3 third-quarter run led by Delk and Shawn Marion, who had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Tom Gugliotta had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists and Penny Hardaway scored 13 points for the Suns, who shot 60 percent to overcome 22 turnovers.

Rookie center Alton Ford had eight points and four rebounds in 21 minutes.

Rookie Troy Murphy scored 17 points for Golden State (1-2), which had five players in double figures. Danny Fortson had 15 points and six rebounds and Antawn Jamison scored 14 points.

First-round pick Jason Richardson added 13 points and Erick Dampier chipped in 12.
