Philadelphia 10, NY Giants 9

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Donovan McNabb has better legs than Kerry Collins and the Philadelphia Eagles finally have a win against the New York Giants.

McNabb threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to James Thrash with 1:52 to play and sealed the win with a fourth-down run in the final half minute as the Eagles edged the Giants Monday night, 10-9, to move atop the NFC East.

While McNabb's mobility proved to be the difference, Collins' inability to scramble helped the Eagles snap a nine-game losing streak in the series since Jim Fassel took over as Giants coach in 1997.

Pressured all night in the rare occasions the offense took the field, McNabb scrambled right and found a sliding Thrash in the back right corner of the end zone to give Philadelphia its first lead.

On the ensuing possession, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter forced the slow-footed Collins out of the pocket to the left sideline and forced a fumble from behind. Tackle Brandon Whiting pounced on the loose ball just before it went out of bounds.

The Giants used all three of their timeouts and forced the Eagles into a 4th-and-4 from New York's 29-yard line. But coach Andy Reid decided put the ball in the hands of McNabb, who ran a bootleg left and picked up 21 yards.

McNabb completed 15-of-26 passes for 154 yards and rushed for another 40 for the Eagles (3-2), who moved one-half game ahead of the Giants (3-3) in the NFC East.

New York had possession for more than 24 1/2 minutes in the first half but settled for three field goals en route to its second straight one-point loss.
