Miami 90, San Antonio 88

BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Eddie House had 24 points and eight assists and LaPhonso Ellis added 14 points as the Miami Heat held on Tuesday night for a 90-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in an exhibition matchup.

House made 11-of-15 shots from the floor and Ellis drained 6-of-12 shots for Miami, which shot 46 percent (39-of-84) from the floor and committed just 14 turnovers.

The Heat led by as many as seven in the third quarter but lost the lead midway through the fourth quarter. But Alonzo Mourning gave them the lead for good, 80-79, on a dunk with seven minutes to go.

Mourning had 12 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes. Kendall Gill scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Sam Mack also had 13 points, nailing 3-of-7 shots from beyond the arc.

Miami's Anthony Carter remained sidelined with an abdominal strain. Rod Strickland, who was signed to a free agent contract Monday, is not yet with the team.

Tim Duncan was the only player in double figures for San Antonio, scoring 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also had 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Antonio Daniels and Stephen Jackson each scored nine points and Amal McCaskill added eight. David Robinson had seven points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes.
