Toronto 107, Chicago 89

TORONTO, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 12 of his 21 points in the first quarter and Morris Peterson had seven during a key third-quarter run Tuesday night as the Toronto Raptors posted a 107-89 exhibition victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Carter made 4-of-8 shots, including a 3-pointer, and three free throws in the opening 12 minutes as Toronto jumped out to a 32-22 lead. The Raptors shot 52 percent (12-of-23) from the floor in the first quarter and made 7-of-7 free throws.

Toronto (2-0) led, 64-52, with 9:58 left in the third quarter before the Bulls went on a 10-2 run. Ron Mercer scored four points and capped the run with a layup that brought Chicago within 66-62 with 6:34 left.

Peterson responded with a 3-pointer and made another shot from the arc and a free throw during a 19-4 burst that put Toronto in control.

Antonio Davis had 14 points and five rebounds and Tracy Murray scored 11 points for the Raptors. Peterson also finished with 11 points and Alvin Williams had 10 and eight assists.

Toronto's Hakeem Olajuwon had four points, five rebounds and three blocks in just 10 minutes. Chris Childs sat out with a sore back and fellow guard Dell Curry was sidelined with a strained left hamstring.

Mercer scored 15 points and Eddie Robinson had 14 for Chicago (2-1), which again was without injured forward Ron Artest. Brad Miller and rookie Eddy Curry each chipped in 11 points and rookie Tyson Chandler had eight and seven rebounds.
