Memphis 103, Seattle 99

MEMPHIS, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Outstanding performances by three new players Monday night led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 103-99 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics, their third win in as many exhibition games.

Rookies Shane Battier and Pau Gasol played well, but it was new point guard Jason Williams' perimeter game that sealed the victory.

Williams, who was traded from Sacramento for Mike Bibby, nailed two key 3-pointers with under a minute remaining. He finished with 14 points, 12 from the perimeter, and five assists.

Gasol scored 17 points and Battier added 16 for the Grizzlies, who shot 63 percent (16-of-21) from 3-point range.

Williams hit one of his 3-pointers with 50 seconds remaining. He pushed the ball up court and passed to Battier before getting the ball back and hitting the shot from just behind the arc.

After Shammond Williams made two free-throws, Jason Williams hit another key 3-pointer with 8.9 seconds left to seal the victory.

Battier shot 5-of-7 from the field, hitting consecutive 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Gasol had his best game as a pro, going 7-of-11 from the floor.
