Golden State held just a one-point lead at halftime but outscored the Lakers, 38-13, in the third quarter to take an 84-58 advantage. The Warriors held on in the fourth to win their second straight over Los Angeles in Hawaii. However, Golden State (2-0) lost starting guard Larry Hughes, who left the game with a bruised left foot with 7:44 remaining in the first quarter. He did not return.

The Lakers already were playing shorthanded without superstar center Shaquille O'Neal, who is still recuperating from toe surgery, starting guard Derek Fisher who has a foot injury and forward Mark Madsen has ligament damage in his left wrist. All three are expected to be evaluated Thursday in Los Angeles.
