Smiths Detection says the U.S. government contract for its HCV Mobile inspection vehicles, a technology widely deployed at ports, airports and border crossings for security checks, is worth $10.6 million.

"This contract underlines the superiority of our mobile, high-energy X-ray solutions built at our Alcoa facility in Tennessee," Stephen Phipson, Smiths Detection president, said in a statement.

"These advanced, highly reliable detection systems produce best-in-class imaging resolution, critical in assisting the rapid identification of potentially life threatening or illegal shipments."
