LADSON, S.C., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Joint venture Force Dynamics has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Army in answer to a call for a new vehicle to better support operations in Afghanistan.
Force Dynamics, a Force Protection and General Dynamics Land Systems joint venture, says it has submitted a proposal to deliver its Cheetah mine resistant ambush protected vehicle platform for the Army's call for an MRAP All Terrain Vehicle.
The Army is soliciting defense contractors to develop a vehicle that offers troops a lightweight, more mobile MRAP to support the challenging terrain in Afghanistan. Force Dynamics officials say their Cheetah proposal will effectively meet the Army's requirements.
"We believe that the Cheetah is the ideal vehicle to handle the rough terrain in Afghanistan, while continuing to provide the same high level of survivability that our Cougar vehicle offers today at nearly half of the weight. Force Protection's strength is staying in front of operational needs and anticipating evolving threats in order to keep the war fighter safe," Michael Moody, Force Protection chief executive officer, said in a statement.
