Nov. 19 (UPI) -- After an aide to Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop opened a mysterious letter containing white powder and a picture of former New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow on Monday afternoon, City Hall was temporarily evacuated because of the potential chemical or biological threat.

The contents of the letter, which was addressed to “Steven Fulop, family and friends,” turned out to be harmless. Fulop was not in the building when the envelope was opened.

Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea revealed there was a note included would not confirm what it said. However, there are reports that it contained “spiritual stuff. Heaven stuff. A picture of Tebow.”

The former Jets QB, who is as well known for his religious beliefs as he is for his exploits on the football field, is not with any NFL team since being cut by the New England Patriots earlier this year.

The police, fire department, city bomb squad and hazmat unit all responded to the scene after the powder was discovered. Shea said the matter is still being investigated. Although there was a return address on the envelope, investigators assume it is fake.

“There have been many of these cases of white powder across the country,” Shea said. “Anyone in the news draws the attention of all kinds of people.”
