Teresa Giudice, husband hit with new fraud charges

Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Legal troubles continue to pile up for New Jersey housewife Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe, who faced two new fraud charges this week.

Federal prosecutors added two charges -- bank fraud and loan application fraud -- onto an indictment that already included 39 counts. The Giudices have pleaded not guilty.

"As she did with respect to the allegations contained in the original indictment, Teresa intends to plead 'not guilty' to the allegations in the new indictment," Henry Klingeman, Giudice's attorney said in a statement. "She looks forward to defending herself at the trial, scheduled for Feb. 24, 2014. Beyond that, we will answer all of the charges in court, not out."

"Our position is that it's really piling on," said Miles Feinstein, attorney for Joe Giudice. Joe Giudice is accused of failing to report $1 million in income to the IRS between 2004 and 2008.

The indictment also includes charges of mail fraud, wire fraud and bankruptcy fraud. Joe Giudice will also stand trial, set to begin Tuesday, for charges he used his brother's marriage and birth certificates to obtain a driver's license in 2010.
