Loose pig causes drama on Dallas highway

June 7 (UPI) -- A pig loose on a Dallas highway prompted a police response and became a social media star thanks to a journalist live-tweeting the action.

Madison Sawyer, a traffic reporter for KTVT-TV, was monitoring traffic cameras Wednesday morning when she spotted the loose pig on Interstate 35.

Sawyer captured the Internet's attention when she live-tweeted the action surrounding the pig and a man who showed up at the scene to comfort the animal and keep it safe before authorities arrived.

Police and pig wranglers arrived on the scene and were able to load the animal into the back of a pickup truck.

The pig's origins were unclear.

Sawyer tweeted that a viewer contacted her to identify the man who protected the pig as her stepfather, a man named James.
