Oregon police officer apprehends 'free-roaming chicken'

June 5 (UPI) -- An Oregon police department shared photos of a "free-roaming chicken" taken into custody by an officer that chased the bird down.

The Portland Police Department said on Twitter that Officer Trummer spotted the "free-roaming chicken" running loose in a neighborhood on Monday.

The tweet included photos of the chicken wandering loose as well as after it was loaded into the back of Trummer's patrol car.

"With the assistance of a community member he was able to get the chicken into his patrol car," the department tweeted. "He was unable to find the owner, so he turned the chicken over to Animal Control in Troutdale."
