March 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a pair of sheriff's deputies responded to a Target store where they captured a baby alligator seen wandering the parking lot.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office said Deputies Bobby Gage and Victoria Pianelli responded to the store on Friday after customers spotted the 2-foot reptile running loose in the parking lot.

The sheriff's office posted photos of the deputies holding the alligator to Facebook.

The young gator was released into a retention pond behind the store.
