Nov. 7 (UPI) -- A couple's 9-month-old ring bearer stole the show at their Louisiana wedding when he passed out behind the wheel of a remote-controlled car.

David and Roselee Pierce of North Carolina said they arranged for their son, Maxen River Pierce, to ride down the aisle in a remote-controlled car at their Oct. 21 wedding in Monroe so he could act as a ring bearer despite being only 9 months old.

A video of Maxen's trip down the aisle shows the toddler passed out in the driver's seat with one hand on the wheel.

The wedding guests erupt into laughter at the sight of the sleeping boy "driving" down the aisle in the video, which was posted to Instagram by Roselee Pierce.

Pierce explained in the post that Maxen was "milk drunk."

"I'm standing at the altar so I got the best view of it," David Pierce told ABC News. "It was just hilarious. I mean, he was taking a nap and it was time to ride down the aisle."

The proud papa said his son has a tendency to steal the show.

"He's quite the character. He has quite the personality. He's just hilarious. He's just a superstar on a daily basis. He was built for fame," Pierce said.
