Oct. 5 (UPI) -- An unusually friendly deer strolled into a New York state grocery store and wandered into the produce section, employees and customers said.

Sarah Van Domelen, who works customer service at the Price Chopper supermarket in Cooperstown, said the deer calmly waltzed into the store about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"It was friendly as if somebody had been hand feeding it. You could walk up and pet it," Van Domelen told NYUP.com. "You don't see a buck like that walking around being nice to people."

Witness Alyssa Erickson McGoldrick posted a series of photos to Facebook showing the deer walking around the store before being escorted back outside.

"Look who came shopping this evening... no fear of humans, someone must be feeding this little guy," McGoldrick wrote.

Van Domelen said it was not difficult to get the deer to leave.

"One of the girls had food in her hand, so she started backing up out the door with it," she said.
