'Ferocious' emus surround family's car in Missouri

July 2 (UPI) -- A family driving through a safari park in Missouri ended up trapped in the road by a mob of emus that surrounded their car and pecked at the windows.

Angela Maresca of New York posted a video to Facebook showing her family's car getting "attacked by emus" while they were driving through the Promised Land Zoo in Eagle Rock, Mo., Friday as part of their cross-country vacation.

The video shows the car surrounded by emus, which peck at the windows in an apparent search for food.

Maresca jokes the car-blocking birds are "ferocious" while her children laugh and scream in amusement.

"We thought we would make great memories driving across the open land with the children. We are from New York City and wanted to give them an experience of middle America, but we never expected this," Maresca said of the video.
