May 31 (UPI) -- An orphaned bear with only three legs beat the heat at a California sanctuary with a swim in the facility's pool.

The Performing Animal Wildlife Society posted a video to YouTube showing a bear named Mack taking a swim at the society's facility in Galt.

"In the nine months since his arrival, Mack has made himself right at home at PAWS, living in a specially designed habitat that is safe and easy to navigate for a young bear with a disability. Although no one knows how Mack lost part of his leg, it is suspected that it may have been traumatically amputated in a trap," PAWS said.

The group said Mack was first spotted with his leg missing at a tree farm in the hills over Claremont and he was captured a few weeks later in summer 2015 when he was spotted climbing a fence at a school.
