Florida deputy helps remove big gator from public swimming area

March 6 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida shared photos of a massive 13-foot alligator removed from a public swimming area by deputies and trappers.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Deputy David Christmas responded to a call about a reptilian trespasser at the Silver Glenn Springs Recreation Area's designated swimming area.

Christmas called in some trappers for backup and the group worked together to drag "the big boy" to shore. The trappers took possession of the alligator and the swimming are was reopened.

"CRIKEY!! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT GATOR!!" the sheriff's office wrote.
