Feb. 14 (UPI) -- An Ohio man who freed a trapped deer from a coyote trap was attacked by the ungrateful animal before it fled back into the woods.

A video recorded Saturday in the woods of Greenville Township shows the man standing with the deer and holding the coyote trap he had just removed from the animal's leg.

The man pets the deer on the head affectionately, but the buck apparently takes exception to the contact and lets loose a flurry of strikes with its front legs before fleeing into the woods.

"[I] was checking coyote traps with my cousin and came up on a deer caught in a trap," the man wrote online. "After very carefully removing the deer from the trap, he then out of no where decided to come after me. Hit me a few times in the chest and on top of my head. Knocking me to the ground."
