BALDIVIS, Australia, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- A man waiting for his morning bus captured video of an event that's rare even for his Australian town -- a kangaroo sprinting down the middle of the street.

Campbell Johnston of Baldivis, Western Australia, said in a Facebook post he was waiting for his bus Friday morning when the speedy 'roo came hopping down the street.

Johnston wrote he wanted to capture the encounter to share with his "non Aussie friends."

"I live in the best place in the world," he wrote.

Johnston said the encounter was a rare one in his town, which he said is more than a mile from the nearest wilderness area.

"We did have three roos in the area around two years ago but they were re-located down towards Karnup Road," he told WAtoday.com. "It's hard to say if this was one of those original kangaroos or just another one out on an adventure. I have seen a baby dugite but other than that no other wildlife in this area until Friday morning."
