LAKEWOOD, Wash., July 19 (UPI) -- A Washington state police department posted photos of a submerged pickup truck as a reminder to boaters about the importance of parking brakes.

The Lakewood Police Department posted a series of photos to Facebook showing the white pickup truck submerged in water and being removed by a towing vehicle at a boat launching ramp.

"We've had a couple instances lately where vehicles launching boats have been submerged in the water when the operator failed to place the vehicle in park before getting out," the Facebook post said.

"With the nice weather and boating season underway...we'd like to remind everyone to set your parking brake and ensure your vehicle is in park before you get out," the department wrote. "Have fun and be safe!"
